Hi, I’m Lauren. I’m a 33 year old legal assistant, marathoner, trail runner, fitness enthusiast, and world traveler who lives in upstate New York. I am passionate about running, nutrition, healthy living, traveling the world, and nature.
Running plays a major role in my life. A few years ago, I watched my mother become very ill while waiting for an organ transplant; she relied completely on my father and me to pick her up and move her in order to accomplish the most basic daily functions. I vowed that though my mother was unable to move, I would constantly keep moving since I had the ability to. My mother lost her battle, but she taught me the importance of maintaining your health and using your body’s potential to the fullest.
I am fortunate to find the time to train twice daily, and to have completed numerous marathons, half marathons, and other races. Currently, I am training for my first ultramarathon (The North Face Endurance Challenge Bear Mountain 50k). I also keep a consistent cross training regime and clean eating nutrition plan.
Running helps to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to set goals for myself. It is the one thing in life that gives back exactly the amount you put into it. Training yourself to follow through with your ambitions, regardless of hurdles, is preparation, not only for athletic success, but also success in life. Placing yourself in uncomfortable physical situations only makes you stronger because, let’s face it, life isn’t always easy!
