What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.
I have always held myself to this saying. Born and raised in Eastern Europe (Bosnia and Herzegovina), in my early age I was racing and competing with the school districts and states. Due to the war in Bosnia early 1990s, my family was forced to immigrate to the U.S.
Due to the war, it was impossible to even think about any sports or a future, but I did not let my dream and passion die. I always kept it with me, in my heart and even at nights when I went to sleep as I sent secret prayers to the Universe to give me the opportunity and freedom to run and not be stopped by anyone.
My first run after several years was a 5k, and soon followed long distances and 10ks, to the half and full marathons. Running makes me stronger, makes me happy and it helps me to clear my mind and let go of anything uncomfortable in my life.
I am also a mother of a beautiful two-year-old daughter that I take on almost all of my runs: she is my best running buddy.
My biggest message to others is to give time to yourself, to your life and push your mind to its highest achievements.
- My health secret is to wake up early…. as early as possible every day, even weekends.
- My running secrets are to eat fruits and drink lots of water.
