Who’s interested in getting stronger? I mean, like way stronger?? I’ve been following a 20-week program designed by Jim Wendler (Google him if you haven’t heard of him) and I’ve built up some mega strength. I’m currently in the middle of week 18 and so far my back squat has increased by 40 pounds, my bench by 20 pounds, my strict press by 25 pounds (and this is coming off two major shoulder injuries) and my deadlift has increased by 45 pounds!!! And I have one and half weeks left to test my maxes–I am REALLY hoping to get all these lifts up at least 5 pounds more by the end of next week. And these lifts aren’t being coached by professionals, like many of the people I follow. It’s just me, sometimes with Erik, and we’re just doing the best we can with the experience we’ve had. So these are very do-able results!
I just really love lifting weights. I know it’s not for everyone, and I know some of these conditioning workouts that I post are all that some people really want/need. As long as you have and KEEP enough muscle mass as you age, you’re probably just fine. BUT if you’re like me and you just LOVE lifting heavy stuff, check out Wendler’s plan here: BEYOND 5-3-1. Lifting weight in conjunction with a proper conditioning plan–wink wink–is in my opinion, all anyone needs for supreme fitness. Oh, and a pretty good nutrition plan too. 😉
Saturday’s Strong Figure Conditioning Workout:
3 Rounds for time:
- 50 KB Swings
- 30 Goblet Squats
- 50 Double Unders (or 3:1 singles)
If you don’t have equipment, sub burpees for the swings, air squats for goblet squats, and lunges for the double unders. Great leg burn! 😉
