Hi, my name is Julie! I’m a personal trainer and group fitness professional who loves having fun while getting fit and helping others get fit. I’ve danced since I was seven and played soccer in high school and in college. I’ve been active for most of my life, but when I turned 21, I noticed that I had started packing on the pounds. My weight crept up by almost 40 pounds and I was miserable because I felt terrible. My hair was cracking and breaking off, and my complexion was gray. I also had no energy to complete my intense studies in opera. I decided that I had to move back home to take control of my health, and haven’t looked back ever since. I started to really learn in-depth about exercise when I began working at a YMCA during my time at school in Virginia. My bachelor’s degree is in music with a minor in PE/strength and conditioning. With some changes to my diet and exercise regimen, I started to drop weight and in February of 2010, I became a Zumba instructor. I have also taught PiYo, pilates, and Tabata classes (which are my favorite!) I started lifting weights, and haven’t looked back since!
I have seen so many drastic changes in my body and energy levels since lifting heavy and eating a healthy diet. Fitness is not about a look, it’s a lifestyle from the inside out! I’m so blessed to have a wonderful husband, Micah, that supports my goals and enjoys being active with me. We love our beautiful home in central North Carolina, where we often find places to hike and explore. We live in a small town with our German Shepherd, Orion and our cats, Monkey and Whitacre.
