Hello all,
My name is Whitney Lockwood and I am so excited to be a part of the Strong Figure team!
I am an avid CrossFitter, clean-eater, and all around fitness enthusiast.
My home-sweet-home is in Chesapeake, VA (not far from the beach!) where I work at a local gym, (Wellness One Fitness) as a fitness attendand and CrossFit coach. I also work as an exercise/fitness specialist for the National Institute of Fitness and Sport. I am currently in my final semester as an undergrad at Old Dominion University, where my field of study is Exercise Science. I look forward to continuing my education beyond my Bachelors. and expanding my knowledge of fitness and wellness so that I may share it with others.
As I said before, I am a true fitness enthusiast and have a passion for helping others improve their health and fitness level. Exercise has had a huge impact in my life, it has provided me with an outlet for stress relief throughout college, improved my self-confidence, created long-lasting relationships, and proved to me that you really can achieve whatever you set your mind to.
I fell in love with CrossFit because of the competitive nature of the workouts and the community/family atmosphere that it is famous for. When I first began CrossFit, I had no clue how to deadlift and couldn’t perform a full pushup to save my life. Now, about 4 years later, I am in better shape than ever and regularly compete in CrossFit competitions and team challenges.
However, I don’t limit my training and fitness experiences to only CrossFit. I have participated in multiple races, mud runs, obstacle courses, and I am even competing in my first physique competition (This summer!). For me, fitness is about constantly challenging and improving yourself, and finding that barriers do not exist to defeat you, but instead to make you stronger.
