This is such an exciting day for me! Well, for a lot of people, honestly. Today (Tuesday 8/26) is the very first home match for the DC Brawlers! If you’ve not yet looked into GRID racing, you MUST! It’s a lot of the movements we do every day in the gym…and a lot that we don’t…taken to a professional level! It’s so freaking fun to watch!
The DC Brawlers take on the Philly Founders live at 7pm Tuesday August 26th. You can watch the entire match here, at www.npgl.com. They are also competing against the NY Rhinos (and the two-time “Fittest Woman in the World, Annie Thorisdottir) on Saturday September 6th!
Don’t forget to look for me! I’ll be on the floor helping with the media team as a “spotter.” This is a tough job–I had to do it a couple years ago at the CF Regionals, and it’s definitely stressful! I just hope I get to have some fun while I’m there and maybe chat with some of my fave athletes!
Erik will be there as a reporter for Strong Figure and both he and our photographer from Beautiful Rose Photography should be able to provide you guys with some awesome recaps and shots of the event! Stay tuned for updates, and if you can, TUNE IN and watch some of the most amazing athletes you’ll ever see!!
And speaking of athletes, it’s time to get your sweat on. Your Tuesday Strong Figure conditioning workout is:
5 Rounds for Time:
- 20 lunges (each leg counts as one, and weighted lunges are optional!)
- 10 burpees
- 100 meter farmer carries (as heavy as possible!)
For the farmer carries, grab two equal weights that will challenge you! If you are doing the non-equipment version of the workout, you can sprint 100 meters instead. Doing this in your living room? Do 5 rounds of 20 lunges, 20 burpees. And maybe throw on a backpack or something for added resistance if you can.
My 6am bootcamp class averaged 13-18 minutes for this workout…and that was with 50+ people fighting over kettlebells for farmer carries! Knock this out and let us know in the comments your time!
I am watching the match online, and Taylar is just killing it! I can see how she is a favorite. I just wish there was a team close to me, (St. Louis, Indianapolis, or Nashville would be awesome) I would go watch in a heartbeat.
Hey Katie, so the plan right now is to add 8 more teams in 2015. The Carolina Crush are already officially one of these 8. And the Baltimore team is pretty official as well. I have heard mixed things about a Vegas team and a Dallas team. But I have not heard much definitive news coming out of the midwest — not even Chicago. I have seen many people post that the Midwest needs teams (and there are 6 open spots if you count Baltimore as official). So my guess is one of your mentioned cities will get a team. Good luck! For now you should just be a Brawlers fan though.
