Gabriella is a nerdy 20-something feminist from New England. She’s a self-styled superwoman sweating through life in search of balance and prosperity. She is a horseback rider, longtime yogini, nascent runner, but most importantly, a survivor.
Gabriella currently blogs at peacesweatlove.com after an extremely long hiatus from blogging. Now, years later, she is revisiting the idea of the blog because of the benefits it provided her in the past during times when she was really struggling. The blogosphere was a place of positivity and support for her during times of sickness, and creating a blog now about fitness, but more importantly health (on any and all levels) is radical for her.
Why Peace.Sweat.Love? When Gabriella was very sick, she didn’t sweat. She was too weak to work out, and when she did her body simply couldn’t keep up. She lost her period, and lost her sweat – two things that we tend not to appreciate about our bodies until they are gone. Her illness tried to rein her in, to weaken her. So for Gabriella, doing something now like being capable of running a half marathon is nothing short of incredible. Her peace with herself emotionally has always been rooted in her peace with her physical self. Today, she wears her sweat as a badge of courage, of strength, and of achievement. For her, those droplets of sweat that she used to consider so unimportant, even undesirable, have become harbingers of her liberation.
