Is Coffee Paleo?
Ok so apparently many in the Paleo world do not recommend drinking coffee? Some say it looks too much like Gluten to the body. Some say it releases cortisol and affects insulin sensitivity. Some say it is not Paleo.
What!?! Have you not met us? Almost all of us here at Strong Figure are coffee obsessed. Please don’t tell us that coffee is not ok! Paleo folks, you may have lost me on this one. I see the results with the Paleolithic diet and I think the science is well backed, but no coffee? Blasphemy.
It seems like these hardcore Paleo’ers recommend switching from coffee to green tea. And although it will never replace coffee for me, I will admit that green tea is something everyone should be drinking.
So for my first fat loss tip, following my Bikinis Banned article:
Drink Green Tea for Fat Loss:
Ok so first of all, this should go without saying: drink Green Tea without sugar or sugar substitute. It may take some getting used to but it actually tastes pretty good plain, even iced green tea.
By now, 2013, I am sure you have heard that green tea causes fat loss. If you pick up any fat burning supplement, green tea extract will be one of the ingredients. Here is why it works:
According to this study and numerous others, green tea activates the body’s thermogenic fat burning process. We all have a natural hormone called norepniephrine that serves as our primary fat burning hormone. And green tea has these things called catechins that elevate norepinephrine levels.
Now as awesome as that is, there is further evidence that shows when green tea is combined with caffeine, it increases the body’s use of calories for energy. Green tea increases norepinephrine levels and increases your metabolism — score!
If fat loss doesn’t interest you than maybe you will take green tea for these benefits:
- Green tea helps prevent and fight cancer.
- Green tea helps in preventing heart disease.
- Green tea is great for your skin.
- Green tea helps with depression.
- GREEN TEA IS AN ANTI-INFLAMMATORY!!!
I will continue to drink coffee because it is awesome too. But with summer time upon us — a tall glass of iced green tea will do wonders for your health. Most experts recommend 3 cups a day to receive the proper health benefits.
Which do you prefer coffee or green tea?
