I saw that phrase on Instagram the other day, “Fall back into fitness,” with a background of pumpkins and burnt-orange maple leaves.
What is it about autumn that makes me crave a hot drink in my hands and a pumpkin-flavored treat to boot? Why am I thinking about naming my not-even-thought-about-yet kid “Autumn” and then nicknaming her “Pumpkin”?!
But seriously, do people “fall out of fitness” over the summer? Is fall a great time to re-energize and get in shape again? I feel like fall and winter are the toughest times to get/stay fit. It’s darker earlier and later, it’s usually pretty chilly out, and people want to stay inside. My 6am bootcamps will likely get smaller (though I hope they don’t!) and I know many who will be tempted to drive right home and curl up after work instead of hitting the gym. And let’s not forget all things pumpkin, cinnamon, peppermint, chocolate, galore. I’ve already started looking up holiday baking ideas on Pinterest and I even said I’m not going to bake this year! Seriously.
So let’s not fall out of fitness anymore, people. Now is the time to work harder than ever. So here’s your workout for tomorrow–inspired by the CrossFit workout, “Grace” : 30 clean and jerks for time.
For time:
- 30 kettlebell or dumbbell clean and jerks
You can do this with two bells or one–if you choose one, you’ll do 30 each side. Each time you’ll pick up the bells from the floor and bring them to your shoulders, then press them overhead. If you have no equipment, do 30 squats, 30 sit-ups, and 30 push-ups. If you want to make it harder, do 3 rounds. 😉
More about Grace:
This weekend, the Barbells for Boobs Tour is coming to CrossFit Harrisonburg because we raised the most money in the nation last year for this breast cancer research fundraiser! Famous CrossFit Games athlete Gretchen Kittelberger will be there, and so will a food truck, several shopping vendors, and even a local brewery is donating proceeds. Sunday is going to be SO much fun! If you’re local, come check it out! The event starts at 2, costs $10 (all proceeds donated), and you can even do the workout if you want!
The fundraising isn’t over! We’re raising money again this year for the same cause–saving the boobs! I’ve set up a special page where Strong Figure has set a goal of raising $1000 dollars! We would love it if you could help us out–anything and everything helps! Just think, $80 is all it takes for one mammogram, and that’s a potential life saved! Here’s the Strong Figure Page: https://fundraise.barbellsforboobs.org/strongfigure1.
